The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that all Filipinos living in Italy are free from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Assistant Secretary Eduardo Menez of DFA’s Office of Strategic Communication and Research was quoted in a report by ABS-CBN News that no Filipinos have been reported affected or under monitoring for the said disease.

His confirmation was a welcome development amid the growing number of death toll there now at 79, as of Tuesday evening.
In a separate report by The Guardian, it said that the elderly population there is the most affected.

Those who died from COVID-19 were all ages between 63 and 95 with underlying conditions.
Reportedly, there are now 2,500 cases in Italy.
