The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has warned Filipinos about a photo of a travel advisory circulating on social media, which states that the department has ordered a mandatory coronavirus disease (COVID-19) quarantine for travelers arriving from 23 countries—including the UAE.
According to DILG, the infographic is a hoax and that the image, which started circulating on February 7, was not issued by the department.

“We would like to clarify that the said infographic was not issued by this Department and that our policy, as of today, is that the strict implementation of the 14-day quarantine provided in DILG Memo Circular 2020-023 (Amended Guide to Action against the 2019 Novel Coronavirus) refer only to travelers from China, Hong Kong and Macau. All other travelers from other nCoV-affected countries may undergo voluntary quarantine,” DILG said in a statement released on its social media page.
The department also advised the public to only follow the announcements posted on its official pages—such as its website (www.dilg.gov.ph) and DILG social media accounts.
As of press time, the Philippines has travel bans to China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.
