The number of passengers infected of novel coronavirus in the quarantined cruise ship in Japan rose to 61, reported AFP.
Japanese health minister Katsunobu Kato said Thursday that 41 people on board the Diamond Princess tested positive for the disease
“The results of the remaining 171 tests came out and 41 tested positive,” Kato told reporters.
“Today they will be sent to hospitals in several prefectures, and we are now preparing for that.”
Kato said they tested 273 people on board the cruise ship docked at Yokohama Bay after a passenger who disembarked in Hong Kong tested positive for the virus.
There are 538 Filipinos on board, one of which tested positive for the virus.
The 3700 passengers and crew of the ship were placed on a 14-day quarantine that will last until February 19.
