DOLE warns OFWs on novel coronavirus

The Labor Department has issued an advisory to overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) to be extra careful and take precautionary measures against the novel coronavirus.
The Labor Department said that OFWs with coronavirus symptos must go to hospitals immediately and report to the Philippine Overseas Labor Offices (POLOs) for assistance.
Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III assured OFWs that the agency is closely monitoring all cases linked to the viral pneumonia infections in Wuhan, Hubei Province in mainland China.
“To prevent the spread of the disease, Bello, citing the World Health Organization, reminded OFWs to avoid close contact with people suffering from acute respiratory infections, wash hands frequently or use alcohol-based hand rub, and avoid close contact with farm or wild animals,” the DOLE said in a statement.
Bello also advised OFWs to avoid visiting crowded places and hospitals and wear a mask if necessary.
DOLE also encouraged all OFWs to monitor advisories related to the novel coronavirus.
