Coronavirus patient arrived in UAE on January 16

The Ministry of Health and Prevention, MoHAP announced Wednesday the first case of novel coronavirus or 2019-nCoV in the UAE, a family of four members from Chinese city of Wuhan.
The family – a father, mother, grandmother and a nine-year-old child – arrived in the UAE from Wuhan on January 16, Khaleej Times reported.
A week after their trip, the grandmother was taken to a clinic on January 23 for flu-like symptoms.
Dr. Hussein Abdel-Rahman Al-Rand, Assistant Undersecretary of Ministry of Health and Prevention, said the family “are currently quarantined and being treated”
Authorities are currently conducting contact tracing to learn whom they have interacted with since their arrival.
Dr. Al Rand stressed that there is no reason for public to panic as the “conditions are safe in the UAE.”
Meanwhile, MoHAP urged the public to follow all preventive measures issued by official health authorities in the country about the novel coronavirus, and not to circulate rumors or any information published by unauthenticated sources.
