An 18-month-old Chinese child who arrived in Aklan with high fever is now under observation in the province’s hospital.
Aklan Provincial Health Officer Dr. Cornelio Cuachon said the boy was among passengers who arrived at the Kalibo International Airport from Nanjing at 11:40 p.m.

Kalibo has direct flights from Nanjing and Kalibo. The Chinese city is just located in the east of Wuhan, the source of the new coronavirus outbreak.
“Tapos nakitaan nilang may lagnat, mataas po ‘yung lagnat 40.5 degree Celcius kaya ni-refer sa provincial hospital ngayon,” Cuachon tolf ABS-CBN News.
The boy is now confined and now taking oral medication while under observation.

A flight attendant also volunteered to be self-quarantine after experiencing flu-like symptoms from a trip in Wuhan.
“Yung babae po na 3-years old, kahapon po pumunta sila ng provincial hospital dahil kumuha sila ng medical clearance tapos ngayon po pabalik na sila ng China,” Cuachons said.
The virus can cause respiratory illnesses that killed at least 17 individuals and affected 600 people.
