The World Health Organization (WHO) is yet to determine if there is a need to declare an international emergency following the Coronavirus outbreak in China.
According to a post on their Instagram account, WHO announced they are convening an emergency committee of experts on Wednesday to assess whether to declare this or not.
“WHO Director-General @drtedros will convene an Emergency Committee on the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) under the International Health Regulations to determine whether the outbreak constitutes a public health emergency of international concern, and what recommendations should be made to manage it,” WHO wrote on its caption.
The virus, which was first reported affecting people in Wuhan, has already infected nearly 200 people in many other Chinese cities, including its capital Beijing and Shanghai.
A fourth case has also been reported beyond China’s borders.
