A Pakistani man is facing 10 years in jail after airport authorities caught him with a big quantity of heroin at the Dubai International Airport last year.
The 23-year-old man, who was on a visit visa, was handed down with a sentence by the Dubai Court of First Instance, says a report by Khaleej Times.
After his jail term, authorities also ordered him to be deported and to pay the fine of Dh50,000.
Airport officials apprehended the Pakistani man on Sep. 27, 2019 when 1.2 kilograms of heroin were found in his bag.
The man admitted to the female customs inspector that it was heroin.
The defendant has filed an appeal on the court’s verdict.
