DOH warns public not to eat fish from Taal Lake

The Department of Health has issued an advisory to the public to avoid eating fish from Taal Lake due to high sulfur content from the erupting volcano.
The volcanic elements being spewed by the rumbling Mt. Taal are affecting the marine life in its surrounding lake.
People who will eat fish from the lake could experience stomach pains and vomiting.
In a press briefing in Malacañang, Health Assistant Secretary Marie Laxamana said that people should avoid buying fish from Batangas province.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology also said that tilapia and tawilis could be affected from the sulfur content.
If a person experience stomach pains after eating fish from Taal lake, he or she should immediately consult a doctor and rehydrate.
Tawilis is a kind of fish that thrives in Taal Volcano.
