Carla Abellana hits alleged dog meat trade in Manila

Carla Abellana has expressed disappointment over news about policemen and barangay officials allegedly involved in the dog meat trade in Manila.
On her Instagram post, Carla shared the posts of animal rescue group PAWSsion Project about slaughtering dogs  in Paco, Manila.
Residents have shared online the activity and trade of dog meat in Manila.
PAWSsion Project’s post have yet to be verified.
“How will you report this to the authorities if they, themselves, are behind it?” Carla wrote on her post.
The actress and animal advocate insisted that dog meat trade continues to exist even if it’s illegal.
“DOG MEAT TRADE ALERT It is now 2020, but yes, it is still happening everywhere in the country. And yes, it is ILLEGAL to sell/trade dog meat for consumption,” she added.
Carla added that what’s worse is that officials are sometimes part of the illegal trade.
“However, what’s even worse is that even those in power (i.e. police officers and baranggay officials) participate in this revolting practice. WHEN WILL WE TAKE ANIMAL RIGHTS SERIOUSLY?” she added.
She added that imposing the Animal Protection Law is  “extremely difficult.”
“Also, it is extremely difficult to win cases involving offenses against our so-called Animal Protection Law. When will we take animal rights seriously??? It is exhausting to know that while we use up all our resources just to save dogs in danger, there are individuals out there who do not value other beings’ lives,” she said.
