Saudi Arabia has introduced harsh laws against nepotism, which is now punishable of up to three years of imprisonment and a fine of up to SAR100,000 ($27,000).
Newspapers said a law issued by the Justice Ministry considered nepotism as a form of bribery and warned citizens against indulging in such practices.
“Any public servant who gives priority to relatives or friends in jobs or document clearing or any other business at the department is committing a bribery crime, which is punishable under the anti-bribery law,” the report said.
