Duterte appoints new AFP Chief

President Rodrigo Duterte has chosen Eastern Mindanao Command Chief Lt. Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. as the new chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
 
Santos is set to take over the military’s top post on Saturday during the turnover ceremony with President Rodrigo Duterte.
 
He will be replacing Lt. Gen. Noel Clement, who is retiring on January 5.
 
Santos is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sinagtala” Class of 1986.
 
Both Senator Bong Go and Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana confirmed Santos’ appointment.
