Salary Standardization Law awaits President’s signature

The wage increase for government workers under the Salary Standardization law (SSL) is one signature away from implementation.

Both chambers of the Congress ratified the bicameral report on SSL V ahead of the Christmas break.

Under the proposed Salary Standardization Law, government workers with Salary Grades 11 to 13 will have wage increase that ranges from 24.1% to 30.1%.

The SSL would also increase the proposed minimum basic salary from P11,068 to P13,000 to “remain competitive” with the minimum daily wage in the National Capital Region.

The bill will take into effect as a law on January 1, 2020 if President Duterte signs it before the year ends.

Earlier, the President certified the Salary Standardization Law as urgent.
