Former Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao governor Zaldy Ampatuan has been discharged from the Makati Medical Center on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a report from GMA News Online, he was in a wheelchair and boarded a heavily guarded Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) vehicle.
Ampatuan was ordered to return to his detention cell inside Camp Bagong Diwa after a Quezon City Court on Tuesday said his rehabilitation can be done as an outpatient.
Ampatuan is named a primary defendant in the 2009 Maguindanao massacre that left 58 people dead. The verdict on the case will be out on Thursday, Dec. 19.
