DTI receives numerous online shopping complaints during Christmas sale peak

The Department of Trade and Industy said they have received numerous complaints against online shopping sites following the launch of different online stores’ Christmas sales.

DTI Undersecretary Ruth Castelo said they have received at least 1,200 complaints on online shopping.

The department cautioned customers to make sure that they only buy from legitimate online shopping sites.

Officials also encouraged online buyers not to put their credit or debit card information online to avoid possible inconvenience.

Castello likewise advised online shoppers to review the feedback mechanism of the online shopping sites.

The government is looking into the complaints and determining what course of action to take.
