Sara Duterte reacts to ‘Manila’ song on SEA Games opening ceremony

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte expressed her disappointment on the use of Hotdog’s hit ‘Manila’ during the parade of athletes in the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games opening event on Saturday.

“Di po ba Philippine flag ang dala? Why would you play the song Manila?

“Did Lapu-Lapu die for Manila? Wag po natin gawing excuse ang upbeat danceable song.

“Kami nag-imbento ng budots. Kaloko man oie,” Sara wrote on her Instagram account.

The presidential daughter added that inclusivity should have been considered especially that the Philippine flag is being represented.

“We should be inclusive when we want to encourage our countrymen to cheer,” said.

“Yes, nega ako, bakit? I am a Filipino but I don’t have one drop of Tagalog blood in me. Pure Vismin by birth and Ilocos by marriage. #bastabisayahilas add na natin German American for the glam,” she said.

Sara’s father President Rodrigo Duterte was seen dancing to the song and greeted the athletes as they walked down the stage of Philippine Arena.
