An Asian housemaid has taken her female Gulf employer to court in Sharjah, accusing the woman of causing her a heart attack by repeatedly hitting her with a spoon on her head.
The unnamed maid filed the lawsuit before she fled her employer and left the country, according to newspapers.
The woman denied the accusations, telling court that a number of domestic workers are employed by her and that she only rebukes them sometimes.
In her lawsuit, the maid said the woman “has repeatedly smacked her and used a spoon to hit her on the head.”
She said that was admitted to hospital because of repeated beatings and that she later suffered from a heart attack.
Newspapers said the judge decided to issue sentence on Dec 15.
