Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte personally paid his last respects to the Gokongwei matriarch, who passed away on Saturday.
Duterte visited the wake of Elizabeth Gokongwei at Heritage Park in Taguig City together with Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, as per a report from GMA News Online.
During his visit on Sunday, he talked to some members of the family including Robinsons Retail Holdings president Robina Gokongwei-Pe and JG Summit Holdings Inc. president Lance Gokongwei.
Elizabeth’s death came a week after her husband, Jong Gokongwei Jr. passed away. She was 85.
Earlier, Malacanang through Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo extended their condolences to the family.
