Phivolcs launches app showing tsunami hazards

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) has launched a website application that determines an area’s risk when it comes to tsunami.

On World Tsunami Awareness Day, GeoAnalyticsPH was launched to provide summary reports of the tsunami exposure level of barangays, municipalities, and provinces across the country.

The newly launched app also calculates the risks of tsunami of a certain population and possible number of affected persons.

The site also showed age groups and sex who are exposed to tsunami risk.

Phivolcs hopes that the new app will be the source or information and hazard planning for local and national government officials.

Planners and decision makers can now consider the kind of developments they plan in one area and possible tsunami risk.

The app can be downloaded here: https://geoanalytics.www.georisk.gov.ph/
