An engineer working as rail engineer in Denmark has gone back to the Philippines to be part of the government’s LRT-2 and Metro Manila Subway Projects.
Deo Miranda has a good career in Europe and was able to provide for his family and even more than enough.
In a Facebook post of the Transportation Department, Miranda realized that he wants to do something more through social media.
The viral post of the cutter head prototype for the Metro Manila Subway Project caught his attention.
Miranda, together with other OFWs, set a meeting with Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade to share their experiences and expertise in building a railway system.
On Monday, Miranda flew from Denmark and is now Engineer IV for the LRT-2 East and LRT-2 West Project Teams.
He was a graduate of the Technological Institute of the Philippines. He started working overseas in 2006. He also worked as an engineer in various companies in Saudi Arabia.
Miranda moved to Denmark in 2015, where he served as M&E Construction Coordinator and M&E Lead Commissioning Engineer for the Copenhagen Metro Team I/S, assigned under the Copenhagen Cityringen Metro Project.
“We are here to support our current administration who has the vision and commitment to achieve a comfortable mass transport for Filipinos,” Miranda said.
Tugade lauded Miranda’s decision to come back home and help build the railway project.
“Para sa akin, bayani ang mga OFWs. Bayani sila dahil sila ay nagsasakripisyo at nakikipagsapalaran sa ibang bansa para mai-ahon ang kani-kanilang pamilya sa hirap. Ngunit talaga ring nakakaantig ng puso kung ang isang OFW, kahit sobrang laki ng kinikita sa ibang bansa, magdedesisyong bumalik at tumulong sa bayan at magsabing: Pilipinas naman,” Tugade said.
