Several homes and a government building were reportedly destoryed after a tornado wreaked havoc in Marawi City on Monday afternoon.
In a news report by GMA News, Jorome Maglahos, executive assistant of the Marawi City Mayor’s Office, said they first heard a rumbling sound outside while Mayor Majul Gandamra together with the department heads were in a meeting.
Maglahos said a strong wind smashed the building and blew the roof away.
He added there was no rain but just a little rain. It also happened very quickly.
In a separate report by Radyo Pilipinas, it said that there were three barangays in the city that were affected.
In another report by CNN Philippines, they posted a video footage from netizen Jamalodin Basman that shows a footage at Amai Pakpak Medical Center where the roof on one house was also blown away.
Inside an army headquarters, Col. Jose Maria Cuerpo, commander of 103rd Infantry Brigade, posted the live video showing the water formation.
There were no reported injuries, but Mayor Gandamra has directed its disaster office to assess the damages.
