The Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested a South Korean national and his Filipina girlfriend yesterday for allegedly staging a kidnapping incident.
Authorities said You Jin-Woon told his family that he was being kidnapped and his abductors demand ransom.
“He just sent pictures to his mother in Korea na he was tied, he was kidnapped, and then the kidnappers were asking for $5,000 from his mother,” the police said.
Authorities went to his residence and found him not being held against his will together with his girlfriend Florefe Bolido. “He confessed personally to me. He said that it was just a false story and he was just joking to his mother in Korea because of their needs of money here in the Philippines,” the police added.
The couple was arrested by police and will be facing charges of unjust vexation. (Trish Tan)
