Asian nabbed in Dubai for this strange reason

Dubai’s police arrested an Asian man after he was shown on social media networks throwing UAE money notes in the air just to attract “likes” from viewers.

The man, in his 30s, was nabbed after he was identified by the e-crime police department following complaints by some viewers.

“He was seen in the film throwing money in the air… he confessed to doing this and said he just wanted to attract “likes” by the viewers and to be famous online,” said the Director of Dubai Police Information Department Colonel Faisal Al Qassim.

Al Qassim said the man violated laws which require social media users to “respect local rules, traditions and the state symbols.”

The official Albayan newspaper said IT crime laws in the UAE include imprisonment and up to Dh1 million fine, adding such crimes involve spreading rumors online or ridiculing or damaging the reputation of the country and its establishments and leaders, as well as its flag and symbols.
