President Rodrigo Duterte has visited quake-hit Batanes to check on affected residents on Sunday together with Senator Bong Go.
Duterte was also seen conducting an aerial inspection to assess the damage made by the earthquake Saturday morning.
“The President will the people of Batanes today, assess the extent of damage in the province and initiate the rebuilding of one of the most treasured destinations of the country,” Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a previous statement.
Malacañang said that the government has instructed all concerned agencies to assist residents especially the hardest hit area of Itbayat.
“The Palace offers its deep condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones during the earthquakes that hit Batanes,” Panelo said.
At least 9 dead while 60 were injured following the consecutive quakes that hit Batanes.
