UAE expats to have shorter Eid break than in other GCC states

UAE-based Filipinos and other expats looking forward for a long holiday during Eid Al-Adha will not be as lucky as their counterparts in other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The occasion in the UAE is likely to witness a four-day holiday starting from Aug 9 Friday and ending on Aug 12 Monday.

In Saudi Arabia, the break is as long as triple that in the UAE.

The two-week Eid holiday in the Kingdom, the largest base for overseas Filipinos in the Middle East, will begin on July 29 and end on Aug 13.

In Kuwait, the Eid holiday is nearly a week, starting from Aug 9 until Aug 15, while the break is five days in Oman.

The Eid Al-Adha holiday is normally long in Saudi Arabia as it has to deal with at least two million visitors descending on the Kingdom for their annual Moslem Haj (pilgrimage) which coincides with Eid.
