Isko Moreno denies plans to run for president

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has denied any plans to run for presidency amid praise for his performance since he took office.

“Mas lalo namang problema yan, I owe it to the people of Manila and we deserve something else. I would rather focus sa mandate ng tao sa Manila because they are expecting,” Moreno said.

Moreno said that he could be teaching about his experience should his term as Manila Mayor comes to an end.

“Hindi pumapasok sa isipan ko. In fact, after ko mag-mayor, magtuturo ako. Honestly, I have been teaching lectures sa local governments. Mase-share ko yung karanasan more than academic provisions syllabus and laws of Local Government Code,” the mayor said.

Several lawmakers have praised Moreno’s political will to clean up Manila. His former boss, Transportation Secretary Art Tugade paid a visit to Moreno and extended President Rodrigo Duterte’s compliment.

In his previous TV interview, Moreno said he is open to serve as Manila mayor for three terms (9 years) for his programs’ continuity.
