A 39-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) was stabbed to death by ex-husband in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat on June 24.
Earlier reports in the Philippines said the motive behind the killing of the OFW identified as Daisy Digan was jealousy.
However, in an interview with The Filipino Times, the sister of the victim denied that her sister has an extramarital affair.
TFT also learned that Digan only arrived last June 15 from Kuwait.
She told TFT that on the day the incident happened, her sister went to the house of her estranged husband named Lopog Villar to see her four children. The OFW also wanted to talk with him to seek the custody of their children.
“Dahil hiwalay na sila, kaya kinukuha ng kapatid ko ang mga anak nya dahil mawawalan sya (asawang lalaki) ng sustento,” the sister of the OFW told TFT.
She added, “Hanggang nag-away sila. My sister tried to escape pero inabutan sya. Pinagsasaksak sya ng limang beses sa likod at ibang parte ng katawan.”
The suspect ran amok and it took three hours for the police to negotiate with him.
When Villar turned himself in to authorities, the OFW was already laying dead in the backyard.
The children were in school when the crime happened.
