President Rodrigo Duterte has apologized to the fishermen on the Recto Bank incident but insisted that it is still a ‘little maritime incident’.
“I’m sorry. But that’s how it is. It’s a maritime incident. Little in the sense that there was no confrontation, there was no bloody violence,” Duterte said.
He also insisted that the Philippines should not send gray ships over the incident.
“That is not a reason to go to any military exercise there. Pag ginawa mo ‘yan, giyera ‘yan, so I’m sorry if ‘yun ang feeling nila,” Duterte added.
He also expressed openess on conducting a joint investigation with China and an independent body to weigh in on the result of the investigation.
