The 121st Philippine Independence Day became extra special for Filipinos in the UAE as Burj Khalifa paid joined in the celebration and featured the Philippine’s three stars and a sun.
Thousands of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the UAE trooped to the site to witness the world’s tallest skyscraper lit up in colors of the Philippine flag on June 12.
The crowd cheered as the 163-story building flashed colors of red, blue, and white.
Many of the OFWs who witnessed the historical display, as this is the first time it happened, expressed gratitude to the UAE government.
“Ang saya naman nang ipinakita na ang flag ng Pilipinas. Hiyawan mga Pilipino,” one netizen said.
“Proud to be a Filipino. Happy Independence Day and thank you UAE for supporting Filipinos. I love Dubai,” another one wrote.
