A former overseas Filipino worker was found dead inside his home in Cordova, Cebu on Wednesday, Independence Day.
According to a report by SunStar Cebu, the victim was identified as Jul Berdin Braga, a 58-year-old widower, who lives in Purok 1, Barangay Dapitan.
Chief Master Sergeant Danny Alburo of the Cordova Police was cited in reports as saying that they went to the victim’s house after one of his neighbors started complaining about a foul smell.
Police said the remains of the former OFW was already decomposing when they found it.
Authorities said Braga was probably strangled to death as an extension wire was seen wrapped around his neck.
Alburo added that the suspect, who remains unknown, might have also robbed Braga’s house because his laptop, iPhone7, and other personal belongings were reportedly missing.
One of the victim’s neighbors said he noticed a commotion inside Braga’s house on the night of June 10.
