This, based a statement issued on Twitter, where, following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Cabinet announced that the Eid Al Fitr holiday for the public sector will start on Sunday, June 2, for one week, with work resuming on Sunday, June 9.
Add May 31 (Friday) and June 1 (Saturday), the public sector will get altogether a 9-day long holiday.
Private sector holidays announced
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced that Eid Al Fitr holidays for the private sector will begin on Monday, June 3 (29 Ramadan) until 3rd of Shawwal – work will resume on the 4th of Shawwal, with the end date falling either by June 5 or 6 as the exact date depends on moon-sighting.
For the private sector, Eid Al Fitr holidays will start on Monday, June 3 (29th of Ramadan) to 3rd of Shawwal, the Minister for Human Resources and Emiratisation announced on Sunday. Eid falls on the 1st day of Shawwal which depends on moon-sighting – this will be either June 4 or June 5.
Most overseas Filipino workers were asking whether the same number of holidays will be given the private sector.
This, following the approval by the UAE Cabinet in March measure providing equal holidays for the public and private sectors for 2019-2020.
As reported by WAM, the new decree aims to achieve a balance between the two sectors and support the national economy.
Included in the list of holidays announced are the following: Islamic New Year, Eid Arafat, Arafar Day and Eid Al Adha, Hijiri New year, Commemoration Day, and National Day. Stand by for more details
