Doc Willie: I did it for Filipinos

While Dr. Willie Ong lost in the senatorial elections, the heart of the cardiologist is grateful for the 7.2 million Filipinos who voted for him.

Ong said he never expected to have millions of votes.

“Wow! I was very surprised that more than 7.2 million voted for us!! I thought I was dreaming. Thank you very much,” he wrote in a Facebook post that has more than 575,000 loves and likes and counting.

“The election is over. There’s one thing I want the nation to know. I did this 100 percent for all of you. And I love all of you so much. Just by letting you know this already makes me very happy,” he added.

The heart doctor promised he would find other ways to serve more people, especially the poor people suffering from illnesses and diseases.

Ong congratulated all the winners, hoping that the Lord will guide newly elected officials in making decisions for the nation.

“I am just here of you need advice on health and other things. I am ready to help everyone, especially if it is for the poor,” he added.

The cardiologist also thanked the candidates like him who did not make it.

“What we had been through difficulty. We carried on. At least, we were able to know each other,” he added.

Aside from being a cardiologist, Ong writes a regular column for the broadsheet The Philippine Star.
