Footages of a desert in Al Ghat, north of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia blanketed by snow went viral as netizens share their awe at the unusual sight.
Captured on March 31 by a photographer, the video was shared by several news and weather agencies which gained traction among social media users.

The General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, Saudi Arabia’s government agency tasked in the field of environmental protection activities and meteorology, has clarified that the incident was not caused by a snowfall but a thunderstorm, which usually happens every spring.
