Duterte blames police for drug war failure

President Rodrigo Duterte has put the blame for his administration’s failure to put an end to drugs problem to the involvement of some police officials, threatening to release documents linking personnel of the Philippine National Police to the illegal drugs trade.

Despite his promise to put an end to illegal drugs within six months of his administration, Duterte admitted defeat, saying that he could not control illegal drugs trade in the country even if many of the drug personalities have already been killed.

Duterte also denied claims by Amnesty International that police officers are being paid P8,000 to P15,000 by the administration to kill drug suspects.

The president said that the information and documents he would share, which was gathered during the stint of former PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa, would help lawmakers.

Duterte also said he is hoping that this information would be helpful to lawmakers.
