A staff of a Dubai-based security firm is now under investigation after making an insensitive comment about the attacks that happened at Christchurch in New Zealand, resulting to the death of 49 Muslim worshippers.
In the Facebook post, the man apparently ‘expressed joy’ about what happened and said that these attacks should be carried out at other mosques during Fridays, as per a report from Gulf News.
Transguard Group in Dubai, where the man works for as a safety and security officer, said in an email statement to Gulf News that the company has led the investigation and will be dealing with the matter in due time. “We are currently investigating the matter; however, the opinion expressed by (the man) is his and his alone — Transguard in no way supports his position and we stand with the UAE in condemning [Friday’s] attack on New Zealand.”
As per the UAE Cybercrime law, people who post inappropriate messages on social media may be jailed and/or pay fines of up to Dh 3 million.
