Global tech company Google LLC is set to open its first operations center in the Philippines in 2019.
The Google spokesperson cited the necessity to build their company’s own global service center.
“This worked well when we were smaller [but] like other companies, we now see the need to build out our customer support center,” the Google spokesperson told BusinessWorld.
Scheduled to open by the first half of 2019, the operations center will provide support for its users and customers in the United States, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, as well as the Philippines.
The company eyes to hire a pioneer team of “about 40 people” and from there, they expect to “hire increasingly by hundreds and then thousands as we build it out,” said Google spokesperson.
As to why Google chose Philippines as the location of its first operations center, its spokesperson said their company believes Filipinos are best fit for the team they will be building.
The operations team will provide support, from troubleshooting issues to advertiser assistance for its wide range of products. This includes YouTube ads, Google Pay, Google Wallet, Google Hardware and Google Maps, among others.
