The Swedish actor-director husband of the slain overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Sweden has been identified as her killer, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday, October 2.
The Filipina, Mailyn Conde Sinambong, was allegedly murdered by her husband, actor-director Steve Aron Bakre Aalam, on September 23 leaving behind their two children in Kista, Sweden. Initial information gathered by the Embassy showed that the Filipina succumbed to injuries she sustained after she was severely beaten by her husband.
The suspect is currently under police custody and will be charged with murder.
Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano had earlier assured Mailyn’s family in the Philippines that DFA will assist in the repatriation of her remains and in obtaining justice for her death.
In an earlier report published by Migrante Europe, the mother of the victim, Maria Conde Sinambong, reported the incident to Migrante’s office in Cebu and told them that there have been clues in the past of abuse towards the Filipina and their son. However, the victim’s mother said that her daughter said “very little regarding her real situation.”
Meanwhile, the Philippine Embassy in Oslo, in coordination with Filipino priests and the Filipino Community in Stockholm, has organized a memorial mass for Sinambong.
The mass for Mailyn will be held at the Heliga Trefaldighets Catholic Church in Järfällavägen 150, 177 41 Järfälla, Sweden at 7 p.m. tonight.
