New Hyperloop system connecting UAE, Saudi, other GCC countries?

Virgin Hyperloop One is hopeful that a railway system connecting Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members such as UAE and Saudi Arabia will be constructed soon.

Amjad Almkhalalati, Virgin Hyperloop One’s director of UAE operations, told Construction Week that “one day in the future”, he hopes that the railway system will make the every GCC country accessible to residents of other member countries.

If the railway system will come to fruition, people in the UAE can easily take a vacation in Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries with ease.

“I honestly hope to see a demo track in Saudi Arabia and in Dubai built within the next five years,” Almkhalalati said.

Earlier, Virgin announced that a transport system which will cut travel time from Dubai to Abu Dhabi and vice versa from more than one hour and 30 minutes to 12 minutes will be built in the UAE.

According to Dubai Media Office, the Hyperloop is a tube-like cabin with embedded touchscreens, strategically positioned seats, and a cozy ambience to offer a more comfortable ride to passengers.

The Hyperloop can run up to 700 miles per hour and is expected to save money lost from late workers due to transport by $800 million (Dh2.9 billion).

Currently, the transport system is in its testing phase, which is expected to finish in five years. After the tests, the construction will immediately follow.
