Illegal recruiter nabbed for scamming 200 airport employees

An illegal recruiter who has victimized 200 employees of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport was arrested by the Airport Police Department-Intelligence and Investigation Division.

The recruiter allegedly took away P740,000 from her victims who sought the help of Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal.

The scam of the illegal recruiter began when the first victim, Nelly Britania, heard that the recruiter, identified as Mayan Louise, helped a colleague at NAIA was able to work in New Zealand without placement fee.

Britania said in their complaint that Louise asked them for P1,200 for the passport fee and P2,500 for the medical expenses. They were instructed to deposit the amount to Medz Remittance Services in Bicol.

More than 200 employees deposited the money in hopes that they could work abroad. However, months passed until they could no longer contact Louise. That was when they sought the help of the authorities, reported People’s Journal.
