The husband accused of killing his overseas Filipina worker (OFW) wife has surrendered to the municipal police station of Isabela, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, September 25.
The husband, identified as 26-year-old Arnaiz Arevalo, said he hid in a sugar plantation following his wife’s death, however, he was advised by his relatives to surrender instead, reported Panay News.
The OFW, only named as Angela, returned home to Isabela, Negros Occidental on September 21.
Angela was reportedly a victim of domestic violence that is why she decided to work abroad. Contrary to previous reports, authorities told Panay News and Negros Daily Bulletin that Angela worked in Dubai, not Kuwait, as a domestic helper for two years.
Angela recently returned to the Philippines and initially stayed at her parents home before deciding to go to his husband’s house to visit her two children.
Upon seeing her wife, the husband immediately attacked the OFW before stabbing her not less than three times, authorities said.
Jealousy is the suspected motive behind the crime as Angela allegedly had an affair with a man in Mandaluyong City who accompanied her in Negros.
After surrendering to the police, Arevalo was locked inside a facility at the police station and may be charged with parricide.
