New cameras and radars have been installed in on key roads in Ras Al Khaimah to easily track violators and speeding motorists.
Authorities installed the radars on Seeh and Dahisa road, as well as on streets with the most recorded violations, reported Khaleej Times.
Aside from catching violators, the installation of the new radars also aims to reduce accidents and casualties on the road.
The report also said that mobile radars are operational on some other areas, including the road from Saqr hospital to Bin Ibrahim locality, as well as the road close to the new officers club at Dahisa area.
“Speed road signs have been installed on the said roads to easily see and comply with speed limit. The maximum speed limit on these roads is 80 km/h while the radars start flashing at 101 km/h, taking into account the 20 km/h buffer,” Khaleej Times quoted Col. Ahmad Al Sham Al Naqbi, director of the RAK traffic and patrols department, as saying.
He added that the speed limit were calculated based on the road capacity and the number of cars passing by.
Col. Al Naqbi said that the radars will be moved from one area to another where most violations are recorded from time to time.
