The prices of vegetables in markets will drop soon, according to the Department of Agriculture (DA). This comes after the DA pledged P20 million easy access credit to markets in Metro Manila to buy locally-grown vegetables from farmers.
Some 40 to 60 tons of vegetables from Bukidnon will arrive in Manila in the following days to be sold at low prices, reported People’s Journal.
According to DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, the delivery of the vegetables could lower the prices of vegetables in Metro Manila. He added that the prices of the vegetables in Bukidnon ranged from P20 to P50 per kilo, depending on the crop.
They will also provide refrigerated vans to transport the vegetables to the metro and shoulder the cost, reported People’s Journal.
