The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land and Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has rolled out modern city and provincial buses that will soon invade the roads.
The modern buses have lower staircase and wider walkways to make transport experience of commuters more comfortable.
The buses have CCTV cameras and entertainment screens per seat while provincial buses also come with a comfort room for passengers in long trips, reported GMA News.
LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra, however, said that fare hikes may be implemented once the buses are operational.
Transportation Assistant Secretary Mark de Leon said that the buses are a part of the efforts to modernize the 6,000 buses currently operating in the country.
“Yung mga bus natin sa Metro Manila hindi talaga ‘yan fit for city operations. Aside from jeepneys na mino-modernize natin, kasama yung mga buses na kailangan nating i-modernize,” he said.
