Senator Antonio Trillanes IV tagged President Rodrigo Duterte’s revocation of his amnesty as a “big nonsense”.
On Tuesday, September 4, the opposition senator presented to the floor video clips of a news report that would signify he applied for amnesty in person.
Trillanes said that he will stand his ground as what the President wants is a “warrantless arrest.”
“Mr. Duterte, duwag ka. Inantay mo pang makaalis ka bago mo nilabas itong proclamation mo. This is a clear case of political persecution, but I will not cower,” he said in a statement.
The senator claimed that his camp filed all the requirements before he was granted amnesty.
He added that the defense officials of the previous administration were present when he took an oath.
Duterte signed Proclamation 572, revoking Trillanes’ amnesty because he did not admit he was guilty and failed to file the Official Amnesty Application Form as there is no copy of it in the records.
