PAL says airport operations to go back to normal this week

The Philippines’ flag carrier, Philippine Airlines (PAL), said on Monday that they expect that airport operations will return to normal later this week.

This was after a Xiamen airlines aircraft ripped off one of its engines resulting in multiple cancellation of flights because the runway was blocked off at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

Due to the incident, many passengers were left stranded at the airport and some overseas Filipino workers even feared of losing their employment because they were supposed to be in the Middle Eastern Kingdom by now.

However, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna told DZMM TeleRadyo that operations at NAIA will be “normalized” as the days go by.

PAL has also deployed planes to accommodate stranded passengers and has airline assisted at least 80 percent of stranded passengers due to the runway closure.

“Mag-nonormalize na po ‘yan as the day unfolds, within the week,” ABS-CBN News quoted Villaluna as saying.

Villaluna also reminded passengers to expect large crowds at NAIA.

According to previous reports, more than 600 flights have already flown in and out of NAIA since the re-opening of its runway on Saturday.
