A father and son from Abu Dhabi broke a world record for visiting the most UNESCO world heritage sites in India in less than 12 hours.
As if the time limit was not enough, participants were required to use the public transport system to up the challenge and to promote sustainable mobility as well.
In an article from The Khaleej Times, 36-year-old Mohammed Thahir said that he joined the journey to teach his five-year-old son perseverance and about the culture of their home country India.
The two snatched the Guinness World Record title: Most Unesco world heritage site visits in 12 hours by public transport by visiting seven heritage sites, covering 300 kilometers in 11 hours, 33 minutes and 18 seconds. The heritage sites were: Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Keoladeo National Park, Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort and Qutub Minar.
The previous record holder was also a duo from Netherlands who took 24 hours to complete the same challenge.
Thahir said that his son learned a great deal about valuing culture especially with the future generation’s tendency to disregard it because of the world’s digital transformation.
