Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who are planning to venture into technology-based businesses will receive assistance from the Department of Science and Technology.
DOST is currently developing a package assistance to grant OFWs who want to be business-owners.
Some of the businesses that can apply for the assistance are livestock, aquafarming, agricultural enterprise and manufacturing. The department will train them to enhance their productivity and competitiveness.
Meanwhile, OFWs with existing businesses may apply for the Small Enterprises Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP).
SETUP is DOST’s program to provide loans for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) who have three years experience in the business.
According to DOST, the package assistance will be finalized before September this year.
