OFWs find ally in Princess of Bahrain on Al Qattan’s remarks

Many Gulf-based influencers and personalities lashed out at Kuwaiti social media star Sondos Al Qattan on her controversial remarks about Filipino maids. One of them is Her Royal Highness Sheikha Noora, Royal Princess from the Kingdom of Bahrain.

In an exclusive interview with ITP Live, H.R.H. Sheikha Noora said: “If I have a long week, I just want a one-day break [at the] end of the week to get my energy back.”

H.R.H. Sheikha Noora, who is a successful and famous entrepreneur heading a group of companies in Bahrain and the UAE, added: “I think my personal helper at home needs to have a day off. I really don’t understand how some people think.”

“Let’s stand up for equality, justice, and human dignity,” H.R.H. Sheikha Noora said when asked to comment on the beauty vlogger’s words criticizing Kuwait’s reform on the kafala system.

Al Qattan described the Kuwait government decision to give Filipinos a day-off from work and keep their visas as “pathetic”, adding that she doesn’t want to hire Filipino domestic workers anymore.

To date, the social media star remains unapologetic about her remarks that sparked online uproar amid several beauty and cosmetic brands, including MAC Cosmetics, Phyto, Shiseido, Max Factor Arabia, Chelsea Beautique, and M. Micallef, that have severed ties with her.
