A Japanese national was arrested by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) after using a fake marriage certificate to recruit a Filipina entertainer to Japan.
The arrest of Jiro Saito was made after the entertainer, Theresa Kyla Serafico, revealed that she was not married to an Atsushi Takahashi as written in the marriage certificate, reported GMA News.
Serafico experienced being a sex worker in Japan despite her recruiter’s promise that she would only be a waitress.
According to the NBI, Saito gave her a fake marriage certificate and a copy of Takahashi’s passport to legalize her stay in Japan.
Immigration authorities found out the scheme when Serafico’s passport and marriage certificate differed by a year.
Saito is also known as “Saito San” and “Ken Suzuki,” his alleged co-conspirators remain at large including Takahashi and the recruiter Angelica Hernandez.
