Flyovers to and from Dubai International City to open on July 14

The Roads and Transport Authority announced the opening two newly-constructed flyovers on July 14 of to ease traffic to and from Dubai International City (DIC).

Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Roads & Transport Authority (RTA), Mattar Al Tayer, said that the two flyovers, one bound to DIC from Al Aweer road and another one exiting DIC going to Downtown Dubai, aim to ease traffic situation in the DIC area where heavy traffic is usually heavy during the peak hours of morning and evening.

The flyovers can accommodate up to 1,000 vehicles per hour and is expected to help motorists especially with the expansion of Dragon Mart.

“The opening of the first phase of the development of Al-Aweer Street will contribute to the flow of traffic coming from the city’s international area to the center of Dubai. The capacity of the bridge is estimated at about 1000 vehicles per hour, thus reducing the traffic pressure between Al-Aweer Street and Sheikh Zayed Road Hamdan Al Nahyan. The project will also facilitate the arrival of visitors from Hatta across Al Aweer Street towards the Chinese market and the International City,” said Al Tayer.
